THE former National Security Adviser (NSA), General Aliyu Gusau, on Wednesday, dissociated himself from a media report claiming that he was having an upper hand in the ongoing consensus arrangement worked out by the North to pick a presidential candidate before the coming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries.

The former security adviser said he would not do anything to disrupt the activities of the committee set up on the consensus arrangement, noting that the report was capable of creating enmity among the four presidential aspirants in the zone.

A media report, on Wednesday, had said that the Zamfara-born politician was being favoured among the four contenders, claiming that the committee had spotted various flaws in the remaining three candidates which could allegedly spell doom for the zone should it go ahead to fill anyone of them as its candidate.

In a swift reaction, General Gusau denied the report and wondered where the report emanated from in view of the fact that the committee was still meeting and had not made any pronouncement on the chosen candidate to represent the zone.

Meanwhile, the Babangida Campaign Organisation has refuted the media report, describing it as nothing but a figment of imagination of the people behind it.

The campaign organisation said no decision had been taken so far by the consensus committee, adding that the committee comprised intelligent individuals, who would not smear their integrity with anything but deploy their intellectual resources rightly to choose a good and saleable candidate that would represent the collective interest of the zone and Nigeria in general.

In a similar vein, the Atiku Campaign Organisation has reacted to the media report, saying Northern elders were yet to pick any candidate among the four presidential aspirants.
