The campaign of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar got a boost yesterday as three aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared support for him.

Former Military ruler, Ibrahim Babangida; former National Security Adviser, Aliyu Gusau; and Kwara State Governor, Bukola Saraki, all expressed their readiness to support the candidacy of Mr. Abubakar who defeated them to become a consensus candidate chosen by the Northern Political Leaders Forum led by former finance minister, Adamu Ciroma.

In a statement, co-signed by the Directors-General of the campaign organisations of the aspirants, the trio pledged their support for Mr. Abubakar.

“Together we pledge to work tirelessly for the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as not only the winner of the PDP Presidential Primaries, but most importantly his election as the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the 2011 Presidential election,” the DG’s stated.
