2 exam fraudsters arrested

Determined to stamp out examination malpractices and other related vices in the nation’s educational sector, the Delta State Officer of National Examination Council (NECO), Mrs. Esther I. B. Wuyah has assisted the police to arrest two suspected fraudsters who specialized in forging NECO stamps and other examination materials.

The state office of NECO said the arrest of the two syndicates were made at Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area during the last November /December NECO examination.

The two suspects met their waterloo when one of the victims who enrolled for the NECO/November/December examination came to the headquarters’ in Asaba with a fake stamped photo card which was discovered by the NECO officials and the in course of questioning, the candidate opened up.

Acting on that information the NECO official immediately swung into action, with the collaborative efforts of the police, the perpetrators of fraudulent act were apprehended. Daily Sun gathered that the illegal deal had been going on for a long time and that the suspects had been having a swell time before their arrest.

The victim, who confessed to the NECO officials said thousands of candidates fell prey to the syndicates who they thought were genuine NECO officials. The Delta State NECO officer said the matter was now before the police and the two suspects would soon be charged to the Magistrate Court in Ozoro, headquarters of the Isoko North Council Area.
