Olatosho Oshoffa, son of the late Founder of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Worldwide, Bilewu Oshoffa, has shed light on the church's perspective regarding the practice of polygamy.

As the shepherd of CCC International Headquarters, Ketu, Lagos, Tosho addressed inquiries about the church's stance on polygamy during an interview with Sunday Punch.

Contrary to some assumptions, Tosho clarified that the church permits individuals to marry multiple spouses if they so desire. He emphasized that there is currently no ecclesiastical law mandating clergy members or shepherds to have only one wife.

"Anyone who desires to marry only one wife is allowed to do so. The church allows it," Tosho stated. "As of today, polygamy is not forbidden among the clergies, the shepherds, or pastors in CCC."

Reflecting on his father's polygamous household, where Bilewu Oshoffa had 13 wives and 53 children, Tosho highlighted the familial love and unity fostered within the family. He emphasized that despite having different mothers, they were all united as children of Oshoffa, bound together by a "girdle of love."

"Our father used the 'girdle of love' to tie us together. So we don’t see ourselves as children of our various mothers but as children of Oshoffa," Tosho explained.

He further elaborated on the harmonious relationships among the siblings, both during their father's lifetime and afterward. Tosho emphasized the enduring bond among the Oshoffa children, regardless of their number or maternal lineage.

"We, the children know ourselves, and up till now, I can tell you that we know the number of wives that gave birth to this number of children for my father," Tosho affirmed. "So, we know ourselves and relate very well. There is one love in the family, no matter how many we are."
