The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Funsho Adegboye, has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Police Constable Prince Chima over allegations of threatening individuals with a firearm at their residence.

The incident, captured in a viral video on the X social media platform, prompted immediate action from the Edo State Police Command. In response, the CP ordered a discreet investigation into the matter, resulting in the swift arrest of the officer.

According to the command's spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, Constable Chima, identified by Force Number 534023, was deployed to the Department of Operatives (DOP). However, his recent conduct has led to serious repercussions.

During interrogation, Chima admitted to his role in the altercation, stating that the incident occurred during his duty at NIPCO along Siluko Road. Allegedly, a confrontation arose with a civilian who insulted him, prompting Chima to follow the individual to his residence.

At the individual's home, the situation escalated, resulting in the officer brandishing an AK-47 rifle, as depicted in the widely circulated video.

Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Commissioner Adegboye directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police overseeing the X-Squad Section to conduct a thorough investigation. Additionally, the officer's mental health status will be assessed by the command's medical officer, ensuring a comprehensive review of his fitness for duty.

While commending the individuals involved for their restraint and calmness during the ordeal, the CP assured the public that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against the erring officer. This incident underscores the commitment of the Edo State Police Command to uphold professionalism and accountability within its ranks, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the community.
