In a deeply distressing turn of events, a man, yet to be identified, has reportedly stabbed his wife to death over allegations of infidelity in Ekiti State.

The incident shook the quiet neighborhood of Christ Avenue, located in the Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti, during the weekend, sending shockwaves through the community.

Conflicting reports emerged regarding the timing of the incident, with one source indicating it occurred on Friday evening, while another claimed it happened on Saturday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the couple, in a troubling escalation of conflict, sent their older child on an errand before locking themselves inside their apartment to confront each other.

Sources revealed that a heated argument ensued, fueled by accusations of marital infidelity. In the midst of the altercation, both the man, reported to be a law enforcement agent, and his wife, who worked in a chemist shop, resorted to violence, stabbing each other with sharp objects.

The nature of the weapons used in the altercation, whether knives or bottles, remains undisclosed.

A witness recounted the tragic scene, stating, "They locked themselves up inside their apartment with their younger child of about five years. The man confronted the deceased over allegations that she was cheating on him, a fight ensued leading him to stab his wife to death."

Disturbed by the commotion, concerned neighbors attempted to intervene, only to find themselves locked out of the couple's apartment. Some individuals resorted to removing portions of the ceiling to gain access, only to discover a harrowing sight.

"They met the deceased and her husband with injuries all over their bodies. The woman was unconscious and was immediately rushed to the hospital but she gave up the ghost before they got to the hospital," the source recounted.

Authorities have been notified of the tragic incident, and the man has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment under police supervision. The matter is currently under investigation by law enforcement officials.
