In a heart-wrenching revelation, Faith Wambui, a Kenyan woman who worked as a maid in Saudi Arabia, has come forward to share her traumatic experience of exploitation and abuse at the hands of her Saudi Arabian employer.

Speaking exclusively to Tuko, Wambui detailed the agonizing challenges she endured, including deprivation of food, sleep, and exploitation, which culminated in her becoming pregnant by her employer.

Wambui's journey to Saudi Arabia began with hopes of securing a better future, aided by her elder sister. However, upon arrival, she was met with hostility and mistreatment from her employer, who harbored a deep-seated animosity towards her.

Recalling her ordeal, Wambui described enduring days without adequate food and sufficient rest, trapped between the harsh reality of her situation and the pressing needs of her family back home.

"He won’t give me enough food. Sometimes, I would go for three days without eating. I also did not used to get enough sleep. I really wanted to quit, but when I remembered the problems back home, I decided to endure the hardships in the house," she lamented.

To exacerbate her suffering, Wambui revealed the manipulative actions of her employer's brother, who exploited her vulnerabilities by withholding food and offering monetary assistance.

"He would bring me some rice and soda. Sometimes, he would give me money, which I would later ask him to send to my family as my first three-month salary was going to my agent," she disclosed.

Tragically, Wambui disclosed that she was coerced into an affair with her employer's brother, resulting in her unwanted pregnancy.

Wambui's story sheds light on the exploitation faced by many migrant workers in foreign countries and underscores the urgent need for better protection of their rights and well-being.
