In the wake of an assassination attempt on former United States President Donald Trump during a presidential rally in Pennsylvania, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed the death of the gunman, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
Crooks, who hailed from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, approximately 40 miles south of the Butler rally location, was armed with an AR-15. According to authorities, he was shot in the head after attempting to target the former president.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that Trump, who sustained an injury during the incident, has since left the hospital and returned to his home in New Jersey.
The attack, which occurred at the rally, resulted in the death of one spectator and left two others critically injured. The incident has prompted heightened security measures and a thorough investigation into the motives behind the assassination attempt.
