A 25-year-old man, Chibunna Chiemelie, has been apprehended by the police in Lagos for allegedly murdering his 68-year-old father in a brutal stabbing incident. The tragic event occurred on Thursday, October 3, around 10:00 PM in the Isolo area of the state, as confirmed by Lagos Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
According to Hundeyin, the suspect's brother reported the incident to the Aswani Police Divisional Station after receiving alarming news from a neighbor about a dispute between the suspect and his father, who lived together in the same residence.
"The complainant stated that he received a phone call from his father’s neighbor, informing him of a misunderstanding that had escalated with the suspect," Hundeyin said. Upon arriving at his father’s home, he discovered the elderly man lying lifeless in a pool of blood.
Police investigators quickly arrived at the scene, where they found a blood-stained knife located near the victim’s body. Photographs of the scene were taken as evidence, and the deceased was transported to the General Hospital in Isolo, where medical personnel confirmed his death. The body has since been placed in the hospital’s mortuary.
Hundeyin revealed that Chiemelie has confessed to the crime, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
