Troops of the Nigerian Army's 6 Division have intercepted a trailer, with registration number JJN 167 ZU from Plateau State, caught siphoning crude oil from the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company's (NPDC) pipeline at Ozoro in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a statement, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, confirmed the arrest of two suspects linked to the operation. The arrest occurred during a routine patrol aimed at curbing illegal oil activities in the region.
“Two persons have been arrested in connection with the crime,” Lt. Col. Danjuma stated.
The operation also uncovered other vehicles loaded with stolen petroleum products. These were intercepted in follow-up raids at Obi Anyima Community in Ika South Local Government Area and Ugo Community in Orhionmwon, Edo State.
The Nigerian Army continues its efforts to crack down on illegal oil theft and ensure the security of vital national assets. Further investigations are underway to apprehend more suspects involved in the illicit activities.
