the nigerian mentality that rules and regulations dont matter is foreign to western world..abroad ,you have  to follow the rules or law as it is stipulated or else you face the consequences..these women did not follow that rules that entitles them to a student visa in canada and as such they have to leave the country ...as a nigeria i am  totally in support of the canadian govt...its canada not nigeria..rules are rules
well said bro   If u are in ur country break the Law an protest on the street. But not in a Great Country like CANADA.

It is sad, but the law is the law and should be respected and executed to the fullest. I am sure that they knew the procedure of a student visa, however, The law need to be changed for student going to studies overs seas. Give them the right to work so that they can take care of them self and check with the college to make sure that they are still attending college and keeping up with their grades. If their grades start  failing then revoke the work permit and send them back to home of record. It is better for them to work then to steal or involve in illegal activities.

Best of luck,

Tiger

na govt send dem go do illegal work na abi?na why una go commit crime finish begin blame govt.mumu

Why insult someone for saying Nigerian government should have helped these two young girls?

You are the “MUMU” and a “DUNCE

It is a normal thing for a government to come to the aid of its citizens.

If these girls were White- Anglo-Saxons they’ll never go through this ordeal. Law should be administered with compassion at times and if there is any case that deserves that this is the one. The rules they broke will be nullified come January 2014 meaning foreign students can now work off campus and yet they could not pardon them.

These girls did not prostitute, did not steal or commit fraud, did not smuggle drugs or 41_Nine anybody. They only worked for a week or two for peanuts.

The provincial government of Saskatchewan, notable politicians, ordinary citizens, university president and staff supported these girls and appealed to the federal government of Canada to no avail. Why did our own government not do something? Are the politicians of Nigeria only there to loot the treasury?

They went into hiding aided by churches for 500 days when they were ordered deported. They did not deny breaking the rules but the point is the punishment is extreme.

Foreigners violate our laws everyday if not by the minute.

A case in point: Recently or just about a week or two ago some Russian sailors were discharged and acquitted of gun smuggling in Nigeria at the intervention of Russian government.

As a matter of fact the Canadian government also few weeks ago vigorously fought in securing the release of two Canadians detained in Egypt for 50 days in a cockroach-rat infested jail.

I tell you….. the word compassion is not in your dictionary. Given your stance on this issue I would assume that you’ll not be to help your own flesh and blood if the occasion arises.

We don’t leave in a perfect world therefore there are no saints on this earth.

Shame of you……

I think the issue is they broke thecterms n their student visa status.

In some countries they would have been jailed before deportation.

I sm sure they did not live in isolation in Canada.

I also believe they are not the only Nigerian students studyingin Canada.

Getting their classmates to demonstrate and then to go into hiding may  work in Nigeria!

Canada is a very liberal country and I have a feeling there is more to the story.

Yes Canada is more of a liberal country but currently you have a conservative government trying to fix the immigration system which has been abused.

The conservative government got fed up with the continued ship loads of Sri Lankan Tamils claiming refugee asylum which began as far back as 1986.
The last ship-load of 492 was in 2011 if I am correct.

More importantly the deportation of these girls was politically motivated. In my own opinion they were scapegoated.

The story is pathetic, however, I know Canadian immigration system too well, they are the most lenient in the world. And they hold human right to the most.
These story is one sided, from evidence contrary to what is peddled here, our girls were into other things, there was a pain staking investigation prior to their apprehension.
Warnings were issued, questions were asked, but the lure to make money against the conditions of student was obvious .
They knew it was coming, but they took the chance all the same.
From CCTV CAMERA DEPOSITIONS, these individuals were habitually profiting from labour.
They were not genuine students..

Their fate is rather unfortunate , but as girls , they can get married and start family, if they still crave for genuine tertiary acquisition , they can try another day.

Please do not assassinate the characters of these girls.

You may claim to be an expert on Canadian immigration which you are not...

If they were not genuine students why would their university support and tried to help them?
They were on state scholarships...
Perhaps they were not getting their funds on time that made them to work unauthorized.

You definitely do not know anything about this case....
