The convict is a district head of Mbalaagh, in Buruku LGA, who was said to have taken another man's wife. The court asked him to pay a sum of N20,000, failure of which he would also be jailed for 12 months. Delivering judgement in the case filed by one Tortiv Torkula against the accused, the presiding acting sole judge, Mrs. Kpadoo Chia, averred that there was enough evidence to prove that Zaki Nyitse knew that the woman he married was already married, while the union had produced four children. The judge averred that with the evidence, the claim by the accused that he was the first husband of the lady was not true.
Chia maintained that the punishment was to serve as deterrent to other traditional rulers, custodians and stakeholders of teh Tiv culture.
*My own view is that just as our leaders in government are using dia positions to tif money, the man is also using his position to tif ppl's wives. That is wat he can tif (steal) for now*
