The governor, according to a statement on Monday, made the allegation during an interactive session with members of the state chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association, in Benin, on Sunday.
Oshiomhole said the PDP at a meeting in Abuja protested against the use of youth corps members for the poll because it was anticipating violence.
He said, “They protested that they do not want corpers to conduct the elections because they saw some youth corps members at the venue of our campaigns even when it was obvious that the rallies are held in schools and students are in session.
“They claimed the decision was due to the violence in the state. Where is the violence in the state?”
Meanwhile, Edo PDP said it was postponing its governorship rally in Akoko-Edo, earlier scheduled for Tuesday (today), to Friday, in honour of Nigerians who perished in Sunday’s Dana Airline crash in Lagos.
Edo PDP in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mathew Urhoghide, said, “The postponement is occasioned by the need to join President Goodluck Jonathan and indeed the entire nation in mourning the tragic loss of lives in the Dana plane crash of Sunday, in Lagos.”
“Our hearts and prayers go to the victims of the crash that the almighty God will give their souls eternal rest, and to their families we pray that He will assuage the anguish of their bereavement and leave them only the cherished memories of the loved and lost,” it added.
