The House of Representatives few minutes ago suspended Hon Faruk Lawan from the post of Chairman of the Education Committee of the House, as well as from the post of the Chairman of the Ad hoc committee probing the Petroleum subsidy. The House mandated its committee on ethics to look at the allegation made against Faruk Lawan and the oil probe committee. The House also passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the house led by Hon Tambuwal. Hon John Enoh now heads the Adhoc committee on subsidy. The debate on the report of the subsidy committee is on going. Femi Otedola's Zenon Oil, already exonerated by Farouk Lawan's report is now re-indicted. Femi Otedola is now liable to pay back ($232m) to the federal coffers as money stolen under the guise of oil imports. The House has adjourned to Tuesday 19h June 2012.
“In the secretly-taped State Security Service (SSS) video done inside Femi Otedola’s residence, Honorable Representative Farouk Lawan was clearly seen stuffing wads of dollar bills collected as bribe into his pocket. When his pocket was full, Farouk Lawan removed his cap and concealed the remaining wads of dollar bills inside it and then replaced the cap on his head. This was to avoid being seen by Otedola’s aides as having left the house with any bulging envelope. .”
