Sokoto — Officers and men from the Sokoto zonal office of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons, NAPTIP, have nabbed a 45-year-old woman (names withheld) with 35 children in Zamfara State.

The woman, said to be operating between Kano, Kaduna, Zamfara, among other areas, was apprehended by Zamfara NAPTIP, along with the 35 children, all girls between the ages of six and 16.

Sokoto zonal Head of NAPTIP, Mr. Stephen Naduku, who spoke through his deputy, Mr. Emmanuel Oloja, disclosed that the woman was initially arrested with seven under-aged girls, adding that further investigations led to the discovery of additional 28 girls.

He further said that the suspect had made useful statement and would be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed.

Naduku said the victims had been reunited with their parents through the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.

He called on the general public to give NAPTIP useful information that could lead to the arrest of persons involved in child trafficking and other related issues.
