DAREDEVIL armed robbers on Monday raided Port Harcourt office of The Nation newspapers carting away over N500,000 from its Circulation Department.

The hoodlums, who were armed with pistols, had walked into the office located at 36, Nsukka Street, Mile One Diobu, and ordered everybody in the room to lie face down.

The incident, which went unnoticed until the armed robbers, who were two in number, ended their operation and left the vicinity, took place around 11am.

It was gathered that five newspaper vendors and the circulation executive of the media organisation, Mr. Daniel Olawumi, were locked inside the room while the armed robbers ransacked the entire room.

THE PUNCH learnt that the vendors, who came to pay for copies of newspapers collected the previous day were robbed of the money and mobile phones.

A laptop belonging to the circulation executive was also taken away by the bandits who came on a motorcycle.

A vendor identified as Miss Chinyere Chukwuyere, who was unmindful of what was going on inside the circulation office, knocked on the door and waited outside in vain for it to be opened.
