The government through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Presidential Task Force on Polio Eradication, and the international partners such as the Rotary International, the World Health Organisation (WHO), and the United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) plans to reach 15 million children with 15 million polio doses in Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara states.
The others are Yobe, Niger, Bauchi, Borno, and Kebbi States.
Minister of State for Health and Chairman Presidential Task Force on Polio Eradication, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate, told The Guardian yesterday after a meeting of the body in Zamfara State, that the focus of the campaign was on increasing the technical and administrative field officials to the least-performing local councils in the listed states in the north of the country.
Pate said the launch of the National Polio Emergency Action Plan in March by President Goodluck Jonathan had intensified efforts to increase the personnel capacity to ensure full implementation of the plan.
