Ekene had on June 29 stood as surety for his father, Benedict Udenmadu, who was being quizzed by the police for an alleged kidnapping.
Police Prosecutor, Marcus Okon, said Ekene who stood surety for his father on a bail bond of N1m promised to produce him at the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department, Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos on July 2 and until investigation is concluded.
The police said Benedict had refused to show up at the police station since he was released on bail.
Ekene was arraigned to explain why he should not forfeit the N1m bail bond pursuant to Section 368 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State.
When asked by the court why he had failed to hand his father over to the police, Ekene said it was because he fell ill.
“The man I stood for on bail is my biological father. I am unable to produce him at the police station because he was taken to our home town after he fell critically ill,” he said.
Magistrate Badejo Okusanya, however, gave Ekene until July 30 to produce his father to the police or forfeit the N1m bail bond.
She said, “ You are hereby ordered to produce Benedict on or before July 30 failure of which you would forfeit the bail bond.”
