Millions of naira property were destroyed by flood caused by the heavy downpour that started at 11 pm.
A witness, Caleb Daniel, said two children from the same family died in the flood.
Our reporter gathered that owners of shops and residential houses beside Kabayi Bridge in the area, suffered terribly.
An electronic dealer in the area, Okey, said the flood entered his electronic shop and destroyed television sets, DVD players, fans, home theatre and generator sets, among other electronic appliances.
A popular bakery in the area was also affected with dozens of bread destroyed.
Other victims lamented that they lost property worth millions of naira to the flood and appealed for assistance from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Residents spoken to attributed the flood disaster to poor drainage systems in the area. A resident said indiscriminate dumping of solid waste in gutters also contributed to the flood.
Residents were seen battling to salvage remnants of their property, which included household goods, foodstuffs and electronics, among others.
The residents appealed to the Nasarawa State government to take urgent action in fixing the drainage systems as well as improving on the community’s environment to avoid a re-occurrence of such horrible incident.
