Some armed robbers on Sunday robbed travellers along Share-Tsaragi Road in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Our correspondent learnt on Tuesday that the armed robbers took about N2m from the passengers who were travelling in commercial and private vehicles.
One of the victims, Nureni Adisa, told journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday that a policeman was killed during the robbery.
He said the robbery happened at a bend along the road. Adisa, who said he had observed that there was always a vigilance group on the road, alleged that the group was not there on the day of the incident.
He stated that the robbers, who operated with locally-made guns and other weapons, searched the victims thoroughly and made away with their valuables, including cash.
He said while they were searching the victims, they found an Identification Card of a policeman on one of them and killed the man who was in mufti immediately.
Adisa claimed that the robbers beat him up with sticks, collected his phone and N560, 000 meant for a contract job.
The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olufemi Fabode, confirmed the robbery but denied that any policeman was killed during the operation.
