FUT Minna expels nine for exam malpractice

Authorities of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, have expelled nine students for alleged examination malpractices and recalled seven others from suspension.
This is contained in a newsletter made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Wednesday.
The expelled students are Ibrahim Yakubu, 500 level, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Idorenyin Etuk, 400 level, Department of Surveying and Geo-informatics and Ibe Blessing, in the Bio-Chemistry Department.
Others are Akwu Martins, Isah Joseph and Ahmed Jibrin, all 300 level students, Department of Mathematics and Statistics while Stanley Joseph is in the Department of Agriculture.
The rest are Ishola Kolawole, a 200-level student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Yunusa Umar, also a 200-level student of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning.
``The management has approved the expulsion of the following students from the university with immediate effect due to their involvement in examination malpractices.
``The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Audu, has also approved the recall of seven students from suspension. They are expected to resume academic activities in the first semester of 2012/2013 academic session,’’ it said.
Among those recalled are Anako Abdullahi, Michael Idahosa, Uzochukwu Onwuama, Offie Chukwudi, Olumuyiwa Bernard, Andrew Abigail and Sarkin Yashau.
The university’s Senate also exonerated Umar Kabir of the Department of Science Education, who was alleged to have been involved in examination malpractice during e-examination.
