In an interview in Bida yesterday, Umaru-Edota said, “the current security challenges in the country needs fervent and ceaseless prayers from all and sundry, to pray for peace, unity and progress of the country.”
He advised Muslims to use the Ramadan to intensify prayers for forgiveness and for the resolution to the present security challenges in the country.
“We should all strive to use the period to pray to God to assist the security agents to overcome the security challenges the country is facing; they need our prayers,” he said. “Muslims are supposed to follow all the actions of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) which were honesty, peace and love for one another.”
He therefore posited that anybody who is a true follower of Islamic injunctions were supposed to emulate the prophet to tolerate and love one another for the country to move forward.
Umaru-Edota noted that the two major religions in the country preached peace, unity and love for one another, saying ``we should always strive to maintain that at all times. Without peace and unity, socio-economic development would continue to elude any society.”
