The state police commissioner, Mr. Ibrahim Idris told THISDAY on phone Tuesday night that “the area cordoned off by the security operatives succeeded in arresting the eight suspects."
He said items recovered were three AK -47 guns, with two of the machine guns belonging to the policemen killed by the suspects.
The third weapon is believed to have been used by the gunmen in carrying out their attack on the security operatives.
He said the suspects were arrested at an uncompleted building at Kofar Dawanau quarters of Kano, adding that the innocent ones among them would be released after questioning.
Idris emphasised that the role of police to ensure protection of lives and properties which is the top priority of the security agents in the state.
He also appealed to the people to always cooperate with security operatives in the state.
“The cooperation of members of the public assisted in the arrest of the suspects," the commissioner disclosed.
The commissioner also urged members of the public to report any suspicious movement to law enforcement agents for prompt attention.
