Kogi Speaker, 10 Principal Officers Removed From Office

Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Bello and 10 other principal officers of the House were Tuesday morning impeached from office.

A new Speaker in Honourable Lawal Jimoh was elected to lead the Assembly.

A group of aggrieved assemblymen have been planning to remove the Speaker and principal officers for months following disagreements between them and the leadership of the House. The Executive is also believed to have played a key role in their removal.

The Assembly was not scheduled to convene Tuesday as the leadership had set Thursday for reconvening. THEWILL could not independently ascertain the number of assembly that participated in the impeachment exercise.
