Obviously, Mr. Pender is a confused man, who has never travel outside the shores of Nigeria. Your decision to work as a truck driver for the Dangote Group is what Sociologists and Forensic Psychologists term the "frustration of a failed state,'' in this case, Nigeria. A man should provide for his wife, and not the other way. Why leave your wife at your former place of work to be the bed warmer to your former Managing Director, while you drive eighteen wheelers around the country for Dangote. If you must know, Alhaji Dangote is one billionaire, like many criminals and politicians killing the economy of the so called Nigeria by stifling competition, strong arm tactics, undue processes and I must win at all cost attitude, even if they have to kill to achieve the objective. Mr. Pender, let it be known to you that some of the jobs like taxi driving, washing of toilets that you have mentioned are some of the reasons why Nigeria's economy has not totally collapsed. On a good week, some cab drivers as they are called in America can go home with, between $1000 to $1500/ per week for those that drive gipsy cabs. Limousine drivers make around $2000 to $3500/per week, depending on how busy and Wall Street connection a base has. Now, Mr. Pender can Dangote offer you that? Rather than employing top Nigerian graduates as truck drivers, Dangote should have created something like research, science, engineering and mathematics departments and employ these graduates to explore their potentials, thereby, helping move Nigeria forward. If the likes of American Bill Gates of Microsoft, Warren Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway, Steve Jobs(Late) of Apple, Michael Dell of Computers, Hewlett Packard, Bloomberg News and other Fortune 500 Wall Street companies were hiring PhD holders as truck drivers, I wonder how America would have become the most sought after technologically advanced country on earth. Mr. Pender, some very rich customers are toiling with your wife at the gaddem bank, while you truck around for Dangote. You don't just get it, man.

I candidly agree with you, Ajani, but he should also not rubbish those who strive to keep Nigeria's economy afloat, by remitting billions of dollar each year. Remittance from abroad is why Nigeria is still breathing.

I don't know why we like sensationalizing news in Nigeria in such a manner. Can you imagine, the title of the article says a Phd holder left banking to drive a truck, the content just mentioned that he is a graduate of political science from UI in 2000. There was no mention of when and where he did his Masters and which year he was awarded his Phd. But the title was put up in order to drive traffic to the article. This is just wrong. And by the way, it is a blatant lie that a Phd holder would apply for a truck driving job. It does not add up. And if by any chance it is true, the school that awarded the Phd should withdraw their degree or should be discredited. We really should have passed this level of sensationalism. Honestly.

Colenzo its right, from my experience as a former banker, its better to do anything abroad than to be a banker in Nigeria because banking in Nigeria is nothing but total slavery.
