Wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, has reaffirmed the commitment of the administration towards ensuring that women are well catered for and do not suffer hunger. Mrs Ajimobi said this yesterday during the distribution of raw food items to over 500 market women in Ibadan.
Speaking at Oje Market, Mrs Ajimobi said the programme was in continuation of the ‘Ajumose Food Bank Initiative’, which was being supported on a monthly basis by Governor Abiola Ajimobi from one council area to another. According to her, Governor Ajimobi-led administration was a government that had human face and was determined to reposition and transform the lives of the citizenry through regular food supply, empowerment, welfare packages and poverty alleviation programmes.
She urged the people to support the ongoing effort of government aimed at restoring the lost glory and pacesetter status of the state through landmark projects that would attract both foreign and local investors. She thereafter distributed packed food items to women at Oje Market, Alli-Iwo, Bus-Stop/Gate and Agodi/Yidi Route In the same vein, Mrs Ajimobi also held a Christmas party for over 3, 000 children spread across the 33 local government areas of the state at the weekend.
Gifts items were distributed to children at the party. While speaking, Mrs Ajimobi said Christmas was meant for children, she advised parents to show love and care for the children. She also advised the children saying: “You should remember that there are some children who does not have food to eat, so you should cultivate the habit of giving at Christmas, because it’s all about giving and you need to show love to your fellow ones anywhere you are,” she said.
