The anti- Chief Olusegun Obasanjo faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ogun State has advised the former president to stop engaging himself with the local politics of the state saying as an international figure, he should be far above local politics.
The advice came, even as the closed Ogun state PDP secretariat was re-opened yesterday, by the Prince Buruji Kasahmu-led faction, with Chief Adebayo Dayo as the state chairman.
Dayo who was handed the keys to the secretariat, closed following a scuffle over the control of the complex with the Obasanjo faction last January by the State Commissioner of Police, Okoye Ikemefuna, said Obasanjo remains the father of the party, but, should stop playing local politics.
He attributed the involvement of Obasanjo in the crises in the state chapter of the party to the role being played by the governorship candidate in the 2011 general election, Chief Adetunji Olurin and the removed national auditor, Chief Bode Mustapha.
The chairman who spoke with newsmen shortly after gaining entry into the complex said “Obasanjo should not be blamed for the crises as he was forced into the crisis by Olurin and Mustapha. That is why I want to say that Baba should stop playing local politics. Hevis an international figure, who is respected.”
Dayo, who was accompanied by the state secretary, Alh. Semiu Shodipo among other members said it was because there was mistake in the letter they were to received from the Inspector General of Police, hence the delay in taking over the Secretariat before now.
He said the secretariat had been completely vandalized by the former occupants, hinting that the new leadership would beef up the security, apart from what the Police had provided for them.
