A 19-year-old boy, Abraham Bepeh, is currently being investigated by the Cross River State Police Command for allegedly killing his one-time friend and close ally, Richard Mashok, over cult-related activities.

Bepeh, who is from Betukwe community in Obudu Local Government Area of the state, claimed that late Mashok was a dangerous cultist who attempted to eliminate him over their shared girlfriend, Miss Anna Ushie, a student of Immaculate (Annunciation) Secondary School in Ohong.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Bepeh was a school dropout who could not pursue his studies beyond JSS3 because of cult activities, while the deceased was said to have recently bagged a certificate in education which he used in teaching temporarily at Immaculate (Annunciation} Secondary School in the neighbouring Ohong village where he hailed from.
