Its a sinkhole...I learnt about this in the course I'm taking....sinkholes occur when there's removal of underground materials such as ground-water, oil, limestones, mining materials, etc. When those things are gone, it creates a void underground, making the surface layer weak and thus eventually give way and fall into the space underground.
