The second suspect in the Boston marathon bombings, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was taken into custody after a tense standoff with police in Watertown, NBC News reported. Law enforcement officials had scoured and locked down the neighbourhood after a woman reported seeing blood on the boat in her backyard.

Earlier,  shots rang out and large numbers of heavily armed police had surrounded the home. Officials were cautious about approaching Tsarnaev because they feared he was heavily armed. His 26-year-old brother had been killed early Friday morning wearing an explosive device.

The gunfire was heard at sundown, less then an hour after officials lifted the day-long lock down on Watertown and other neighbourhoods in the Boston area after failing to find Tsarnaev.https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/378614_488363934551791_2122143902_n.jpg
