Boko Haram received half a billion naira to free French family-Report

Deadly Islamist sect, Boko Haram, which has claimed to be pursuing a puritanical ideology averse to all forms of vice including extortion, received nearly half a billion naira in ransom before releasing the French family of seven abducted February 19.
International news agency, Reuters, quoted a secret Nigerian government document indicating that the group was paid N497.7 million ($3.15 million) before the release was made.
As part of the deal, Camerounian authorities also released some of the sect’s members, Reuters said. The memo was silent on who paid the ransom.
