Most "adoptions" in Nigeria do not follow the correct way they should.

I believe there are various reasons for this.

Firstly, most Nigerians would not like even their close family members to know they had to adopt a child due to barrenness. So they adopt in secret and then send home photos of a "pregnant" wife who gives "birth." This could be to protect the child especially if a "son" as in the future the child could be left out of family claims due to the circumstances of their birth.

Secondly, the adoption process in Nigeria is long winded.  We have lots of abandoned children in orphanages in Nigeria looking for family homes to go to. The money required by such homes is hugely expensive . This explains why Nigerians go to illegal hospitals to adopt as it's cheaper. I have also heard of instances where some babies handed over to people who want to adopt, have medical problems that are not divulged to the adoptive families by the orphanages.

Thirdly, most Nigerians do not adopt outside Nigeria as they believe most abandoned children/babies or those put up for adoption are a product of drug related parentage which will effect the child as they grow.  However on the other hand, children in Nigeria are abandoned due to poverty or born out of wedlock and such news will destroy the young mothers chance of marrying later on!  There are also the police checks they have to go through.

However from looking at the "adoptive parents" in the photo provided, I believe they are picking up these twins for someone else?

Since the murder of Igbinosa, a young boy taken out of Nigeria and whose cut up body was found in the River Thames in London, England some years back, Nigeria has been on high alert! It was the British police who took time to trace his origin (through the contents of his stomach) back to Edo state, Nigeria. The case took them as far away as Germany and it was pitiful to watch.  Thankfully his murderers are locked away. However I am unsure if the child's family were ever located?

So thankfully they were stopped by eagle eyed airport officials because who knows what was install for these twins!!!
