Three siblings - Christian Okere, 25, Blessing Okere, 23 and Cynthia Okere - from Ebonyi State have been arrested by men of the  FCT Police Command over alleged robbery.
The police said the three were last Monday arrested after they attempted to rob a 38 driver, Mike Manassah, at Dutsen-Alhaji.
Manassah was on his way out from Prince and Princess Estate when he was stopped by the three suspects, who requested that he dropped them at Gwarinpa, the police said.
He then told them that Gwarinpa was far but that he would drop them at Area 1. He said on the way, one of the suspects started crying, saying she was very sick and as a result, the driver decided to take them to Gwarinpa.
When they  arrived, one of the suspects called someone on her phone and then turned to tell the driver that the person that will pay the transport fare had left for Dutse-Alhaji and as such he should take them back there.
“The driver accepted but after entering Dutse-Alhaji, one of the suspects pointed a toy gun at him and asked him to give him the keys to the car. They also demanded for money from him and other valuables. He gave them the money he had but a struggle started and he was able to raise alarm and a motorcyclist passing by heard him shouting and came to his aid,” a police source said.
When contacted, FCT police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Hyelhira Altine Daniel, confirmed the incident, adding that the victim escaped the attack because he shouted for help.
“The motorcyclist heard him shouting thief, thief and he assisted. Two of the suspects (Blessing and Cynthia) escaped into their house because their parents stay in that area, while  the other fell and she was arrested by a police patrol team and that upon interrogation, she took them to their house, where the two others were arrested.”
The police spokesperson advised residents to be careful and always raise alarm where necessary when they are in problem.
