@ poster if i may ask u,dad his dad comes frm owerri makes him a nigerian??cos from my humble opinion,obama dad is frm kenya,but dat does not make him a kenyan.go and read the america constitution,anyperon dat is naturalized in america is not entitled to major posts in their government,so both him and obama ar american in all ramnifications.so stop calling him a nigeran,cos he is not.

I was born and raised in the D and it saddens me to see what the city has become. Detroit has always been tough city (murder capital many years, most corrupt police department in US history according to the FBI, high unemployment), but it was our city. It’s a love/hate relationship that goes back to the days of Harriet Tubman and "Black Bottom".  Detroit brought much change to America, whether it was my mother sitting at the lunch counter at Woolworths while "people" spat and threw food on her or whether it was my uncles burning the city to the ground in 1967 (Detroit Riots). People still tell the famous story of former mayor Coleman Young. When the KKK wanted to parade down Woodward Avenue, they used the first amendment to thwart the mayor’s attempts to stop them (no hate laws back then). Coleman Young didn't have the legal right to stop the Ku Klux Klan from marching down Woodward Avenue, however he did have the right to pull their police escort. When the Grand Dragon found out that he and his Klansmen would have to walk down the longest street of a highly hostile city without police protection, they changed their minds and to this day the klan has never set foot in Detroit (well at least not in uniform). The the legacy of Detroit is pride and strength (like the black fist in the picture), and as long as John Olumba possess these qualities in abundance, he will make a fine mayor of Motor City, U.S.A.
