According to a revelation yesterday, there is an increase in
prostitution in both males and female category in Anambra
state.According to the Anambra STATE AIDS CONTROL AGENCY,saca, there
are about 618 female s3x spots and 24 male s3x spots in the entire
state.
The director of SACA, Dr Ogochukwu Idibe who revealed the statistics
during a harmonization programme organised in the state further
revealed that there are 5920 female and over 500 male sex workers in
the state. And about 10 female s3x workers and 5 male s3x workers per
spot.
The Local Governments indicted inthis prevalence of male and female
prostitutes are Awka South, Awka North, Ihiala, Onitsha South,Orumba
North, Nnewi North, Onitsha North,Aguata, and Njikoka. What ashame
He further revealed: "There are men who have sex with other men as a
matter ofpreference or practice, regardlessof their segxwal identity or
segxwal orientation and irrespective of whether they alsohave sex with
women or not."
According to him also Anambra state is one of the highest state in HIV
with a prevalence rate of about
7.77%. It is a pity!
