This article shows no one has respect for any police order. You would think once the police have said 'this place is off limits to trading,' the traders would listen.

The Nigeria police do not have the best reputation. They do not appear to uphold their own ethics - as they are considered one of the corrupt force in the country. However this does not mean they should  be murdered - but they too should desist from murdering.

I have watched live police shooting live bullets to disperse a crowd which we peaceful. I have also witnessed police beating up a bus driver for refusing to hand over money (a bribe) to them. The bus driver in question had done nothing wrong.

The Nigeria police force has to improve its engagement with people not in uniform (they appear to 'respect' those in army uniform without question) and stand for justice and truth. They should stop instilling fear into the public they have vowed to protect.

When this is achieved there will be more people stepping forward to report crime and rumours of crimes.

But for now the people will be their own jury and judge - with people being burnt alive for crimes they most probably did not commit.

Thanks for this wonderful contribution. The entire Nigerian Police system seriously needs to be overhauled.Until then,I have no sympathy for any trigger happy policeman that is lynched by the mob.The Police have been killing innocent Nigerians and nothing comes out of it,if the people decides to take laws into their hands and kill an policeman that have killed an innocent Nigerian,I will not blame the people because the people knows they will never get justice from the Police Authority,so they simply take the justice themselves.

It has become police custom to be opening fire an unarmed civilians. This policeman is nothing but a scape goat. Others take note shooting an unarmed civilians doesn't bring solution rather it causes more harm than good.

this is serious and to me very complex,, 1, i hate nigerian police with passion,,, 2, trading by the roads  side is also very dangerous, for both motorists and traders,, 3, nothing bad in nigerian police enforcing the law,,,, but not by opening fire on the people,,,4, should the  police be arrested, and handed over to police authority YES,, is he going to get a fair trial,,,?Huh?? absolutely NOT,in summary jungle justice is still not the best option, because we are not barbarians,,,,
