Teenage boy found in Arik aircraft wheel in Benin airport

Arik Air has expressed  shock over  how a teenager at the Benin Airport beat aviation security checks at the city Airport  to stowaway into the main wheel of its aircraft.

The airline said it was becoming increasingly concerned  about incessant security lapses at the nation’s airports

It urged the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria  ( FAAN) to immediately address the situation .

The airline’s spokesman Mr Banjo Ola, said  in a statement :”  The pilot of Arik Air flight W3 544, departing Benin Airport for Lagos at 9.00am today 24thAugust, 2013 reported to the control tower the presence of a strange boy in the bush about 200 – 300 meters  at the end of runway 23.

Lapses?

They should be more concerned that such a young boy was ready to risk his life like that. He most probably thought the plane was bound for an overseas destination and wanted to join the 'great escape' from Nigeria!

I do not believe there was a lapse in security. More likely his family gave money to a security operative at the airport with the promise to the family 'to send him overseas.'

How else did such a young boy have the inclination to hide in the aircraft wheel.

It appears this is the new 419 scam - take money from parents with the promise they will take their child abroad!

Its a pity they  forgot to tell the parents he will be travelling below economy class!

People should stop posting nonsense.
You guys should read well and understand the story. The boy didnt go any where near the flight, rather he was in the bush.
See the pilots report: presence of a strange boy in the bush about 200 – 300 meters  at the end of runway 23.
