Prison Warder Kills Taxi driver, Injures 2 Passengers in Port-Harcourt

A personnel from the Nigerian prisons service (NPS) has allegedly shot dead a taxi driver and wounded two other passengers, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The diseased was identified as |Ebere Emmanuel, while the injured passengers are pastor Nathaniel Ibinabo and Martha Pauline. Already the prisoner official simply identified as Henry has been arrested. the incident occurred Yesterday Wednesday the 4th of September 2013 at about 10:45am along Elelenwo-Akpajo road by Chelsea filling Station before the Elelenwo Trans-Woji bridge, in the state capital, Obio-Akpor LGA to be precise.

Trouble started when some prison officials, who where driving along the road in a gridlock, reversed and took another road meant for oncoming vehicles.in the process, the officials came face to face with the driver and ordered him to reverse, the driver who refused to obey the order was immediately shot by one of the officials who alighted from the vehicle killing the man on the spot. the passengers who where sitting beside the driver were allegedly shot, but they survived and were rushed to the state -owned Braith-waite memorial specialist hospital in port Harcourt.

The incident attracted angry youths who wanted to attack the officials , but they were saved by soldiers. .

When the State public relations officers, Mrs. Angela Agade, a Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP), was contacted, she confirmed the incident. she said the suspected  had been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation department (SCID) for interrogation.
