Policeman Arrested In Lagos For Losing His gun To Robbers

A policeman in Lagos State was caught unawares by robbers when they found him asleep at his duty post.
The officer, a corporal attached to the ‘Area C’ Police Command of the state, was assigned to guard duty at an Iponri residence but instead of keeping watch, he fell asleep.
The robbers happened upon him in this restful state and after disarming him, they roused him, tied him up and then proceeded to carry out their operation without interruption.
According to reports, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Prince Umaru Manko, has ordered the immediate arrest of the corporal for his dereliction of duty.
Incidentally, the corporal was not supposed to be guarding the residence, but apparently was on illegal duty. When the rifle was taken, the corporal went to his command to claim that a gang of robbers attacked him on the road and snatched his rifle.
He was arrested, while investigations have been launched into the matter.
