Vulcaniser Arrested For molesting 16-Year-Old Puffpuff Seller

A vulcaniser, Nurudeen Tijani, has been arrested by the police in Ido community, Oyo State for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old girl, Toyibat (not real name) while she was hawking puffpuff.

The mother of the victim, Mrs Yusuf of Ladunni village was said to have gone to Ido-Ile police station recently to report that her daughter went to Idiya village at about 8a.m. on the fateful day to sell her wares.

The suspect allegedly deceived her into believing that he wanted to purchase the flour products and in the process of selling her goods, Tijani indecently assaulted her and raped her, an act that made the victim bleed profusely.

Toyibat was rushed to the local maternity centre at Ido community for medical attention. Though Tijani initially escaped, he was said to have been apprehended and handed over to the police.

Also, a 50-year-old man living at Beyerunka area of Ibadan, Lateef Oladejo, was arrested for defiling a 10-year-old daughter of his neighbour.

He was said to have lured his victim, Mercy (not real name), into his room and had carnal knowlwdge of her two times on the same day. The times were given as 9a.m. and 2.30p.m.

Again, one Olumide Oluwole of Kabiawu Street, Mokola area of Ibadan allegedly defiled a 13-year-old girl who lived in the same neighbourhood.

He was reportedly arrested after initial escape when he allegedly committed the offence.

Confirming the stories, the Police Public Relation Officer in Oyo State, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor decried the rampant incidences of defilement and rape, saying that it was unfortunate that some criminals who had lost every sense of reasoning could continue to force young children into sexual acts unwillingly.

She advised parents, especially mothers to ensure that they keep an extra eye on their female children because of the predators who roam about hungrily looking for preys.

She also added that cases of defilement or rape should not be kept under wraps but reported at police stations to allow law to take its course.
