Most people are as confused as the actress Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh said she is confused about why Christmas is celebrated on December 25. According to her, from Genesis to Revelation, there is no place it was written that Jesus Christ was born on December 25th,she is confused that she is throwing the discussion open.

christmas is on the 25th of december instead of 26th october d actuall dai jesus was born accordin to hebrew calender...cos his birth was used to replace d pegan worship of a sun a God which was on.d 25th of december

A day has been chosen to celebrate the birth if our Lord Jesus Christ. A day taken away from pagan worshippers and replaced with the worship of our Lord. All around the world Christianity has turned a day from idolatry to celebrating the burth if Christ.
There are thousands upon thousands of Nigerians who because of one reason or another are unable to pinpoint their exact date of birth - some were born of illiterate parents - does that mean they cannot celebrate a birthday.
After all, if colonialists had not come over to Africa - we would still be looking at certain events that happened at specific times to identify when someone was born.
Lets stop pretending that if Jesus was born in Nigeria it would have been registered. After all when did we start registering births and deaths in Nigeria. It was in the 1980's!

Dear Tonto, The earth is the Lord and the fullness of it, He gave us the right to choose. The earlier Christian's choose December 25th, If you were born before we had birth and death registration in Nigeria you will be subjected to a declaration of age. and it might not be accurate. So focus on the person we are celebrating and not the baseless argument of date and time.

It is a day chosen to celebrate christ birth. Nobody is saying its d exact day. If a man exact birth day is not recorded he chooses a particular day close to d time of his birth as his birthday. Why not get confused cos d 1stday of d week is called monday

Thats exactly what I mean. Lets not allow those who want to be bogged down by details to derail this celebration. The date has been in place for centuries. Every year someone asks the same question - we may never know the exact date but that should not take away the joy of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ being the reason for the season.

TONTO, it is okay to be confused.....and you can stay in that state of confusion as long as you want. True Christians know why they celebrate the birth of Christ this time of the year. however if you want to join the others doubters to choose a date for yourselves to celebrate Christmas,...please carry on. but to us, Dec.25th is the date we chose to celebrate the birth of the greatest Man who ever lived.
