What!! why Igbo language was left behind in tem of linguistic development? But NBAIS at ABU Zaria, Kaduna state had gone far in developing and even  setting examination in Igbo,Hausa and Yoruba languages.

Round Nigeria to know that secondary schools   Learn the language
Of the the place where they are .   So what's the news  Huh?

I think it is OK for all the schools to do the same. If you don't like the idea, you go to school in your State.

Ok. So Igbo children taking igbo classes? Something they should be learning in their house from their parents. It's like a Latino taking a Spanish class in Mexico> that's what I call an Easy "A" > Taking a class on something you already know. It should not require a class when you're surrounded by not just your parents who speaks it, but almost everyone in the area is an advantage as well. If igbo parents consistently speak igbo to their kids starting from a young age, there's no reason why it will go extinct. If an Igbo person can learn Yoruba just by living there for sometime, why cant children learn their own native tongue when in their own homeland? Even a friend of mine who is not even Nigerian didnt need to take a class to learn to speak Yoruba....... It'll make more sense if students take a foreign language class they dont already know. CONFUSION instead of talking about improving the dying standard of education and research programme that will enhance the quality of lives  in Nigeria university education is the bed rock of a nation take your language back to your primary and secondary school level and not university go to Ghana south Africa Europe and  America  many Nigerians prefer to study there because of their professionality and the quality of services they render  and not must that make the use of their local language popular

This clearly shows that you have no idea on what is happening over there. If you give it a try, you will find that 'THE LANGUAGE IS VANISHING' because most Igbos prefer to speak to their young ones in English than their mother tongue. Many Igbos speaks English or other Nigerian languages more fluently than their mother tongue. This is a FACT.
