BIBLICAL RESPONSE TO POPE FRANCIS’ HUMANIST MODERN AND REASONABLE RELIGIOUS BELIEFS
“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God…All that came to be had its being but through Him…” (John 1:1-5)
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “THROUGH HUMILITY, SOUL SEARCHING, AND PRAYERFUL CONTEMPLATION WE HAVE GAINED A NEW UNDERSTANDING OF CERTAIN DOGMAS”.
B. HOLY BIBLE:   Make sure that no one traps you and deprives you of your freedom by some secondhand, empty rational philosophy based on principles of this world instead of on Christ.  It may be argued that true wisdom is to be found in these, with their self-imposed devotion, their self-abasement, and their severe treatment of the body; but once the flesh starts to protest, they are no use at all. (Colossians 2: 8, 22, 23).
A. HUMANIST IDEA: “THE CHURCH NO LONGER BELIEVES IN A LITERAL HELL WHERE PEOPLE SUFFER. THIS DOCTRINE IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH THE INFINITE LOVE OF GOD”.
B. HOLY BIBLE:   The Spirit has explicitly said that in the later times there will be some who will desert the faith and choose to listen to deceitful spirits and doctrines that come from the devils. (1 Timothy 4: 1)
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “GOD IS NOT A JUDGE BUT A FRIEND AND A LOVER OF HUMANITY. GOD SEEKS NOT TO CONDEMN BUT ONLY TO EMBRACE”.
B. HOLY BIBLE:   For all the truth about us will be brought out in the Law Court of Christ and each of us will get what he deserves for the things he did in the body, good or bad. God overlooked that sort of thing when men were ignorant…because he has fixed a day when the whole world will be judged in righteousness… (Acts 17:31;2 Cor. 5:10, 1 Cor. 6:2, 3)

A. HUMANIST IDEA:    LIKE THE FABLE OF ADAM AND EVE, WE SEE HELL AS A LITERARY DEVICE.
         
B. HOLY BIBLE:   On the day God created Adam he made him in the likeness of God. Male and female he created them. He blessed them and gave the name ‘Man’ on the day they were created. (Genesis 5:2)
A. HUMANIST IDEA:    “HELL IS MERELY A METAPHOR FOR THE ISOLATED SOUL, WHICH LIKE ALL SOULS ULTIMATELY WILL BE UNITED IN LOVE WITH GOD.” 
B. HOLY BIBLE:   Next he will say to those on his left hand, “Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. (Matt. 25:41;Mark 9:42-48)
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “ALL RELIGIONS ARE TRUE, BECAUSE THEY ARE TRUE IN THE HEARTS OF ALL THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN THEM. WHAT OTHER KIND OF TRUTH IS THERE”?
B. HOLY BIBLE:   ‘I am the way, the Truth and the Life…I am astonished at the promptness with which you have turned away from the one who called you and have decided to follow a different version of the gospel…some troublemakers among you want to change the Good News of Christ…These people are counterfeit apostles, they are dishonest workmen disguised as apostles of Christ… If Satan himself goes disguised as an angel of light, there is no need to be surprised when his servants, too, disguise themselves as the servants of righteousness.’ (John 14:6; Gal.1:6; 2 Cor.11:13-15)
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “IN THE PAST, THE CHURCH HAS BEEN HARSH ON THOSE IT DEEMED MORALLY WRONG OR SINFUL”.
B. HOLY BIBLE:   Since in Christ Jesus whether you are circumcised or not makes no difference…what matters is faith that makes its power felt through love. Here is a saying that you can rely on and nobody should doubt: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.  I myself am the greatest of them. (Gal. 5:6; 1 Tim.1:15)
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   ” OUR CHURCH IS BIG ENOUGH FOR HETEROsegxwalS AND HOMOsegxwalS, FOR THE PRO-LIFE AND THE PRO-CHOICE! FOR CONSERVATIVES AND LIBERALS, EVEN COMMUNISTS ARE WELCOME AND HAVE JOINED US”.
B. HOLY BIBLE:   You must stop being led astray. Bad friends ruin the noblest people. Come to your senses, behave properly, and leave sin alone; there are some of you who seem not to know God at all; you should be ashamed. (1 Cor. 5:33-34).
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “WE ALL LOVE AND WORSHIP THE SAME GOD.”
B. HOLY BIBLE:   Not at all. It simply means that the sacrifices that they offer they sacrifice to demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot take your share at the table of the Lord and at the table of demons. (1 Cor. 10:20-21)
A. HUMANIST IDEA:    “CATHOLICISM IS NOW A MODERN AND REASONABLE RELIGION, WHICH HAS UNDERGONE EVOLUTIONARY CHANGES”.
B. HOLY BIBLE:   We must be careful to remember that during the last days there are bound to be people who will be scornful, the kind who always please themselves in what they do, and they will make fun of the promise and ask ‘Well, where is this coming? Everything goes on as it has since the Fathers died, as it has since it began at the creation. They are choosing to forget that there were heavens at the beginning, and that the earth was formed by the Word of God out of water and between the waters, so that world of that time was destroyed by being flooded by water. But by the same Word, the present sky and earth are destined for fire, and are only being reserved until judgment day so that all sinners may be destroyed. (2 Peter 3:3-7)
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “THE TIME HAS COME TO ABANDON ALL INTOLERANCE. WE MUST RECOGNIZE THAT RELIGIOUS TRUTH EVOLVES AND CHANGES. TRUTH IS NOT ABSOLUTE OR SET IN STONE”.
B. HOLY BIBLE:   It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh has nothing to offer. The Words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, except by me.  (John 6:63, Matt.24:35; John 14:6)
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “THROUGH ACTS OF LOVE AND CHARITY THE ATHEIST ACKNOWLEDGES GOD AS WELL, AND REDEEMS HIS OWN SOUL, BECOMING AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN THE REDEMPTION OF HUMANITY.”

B. HOLY BIBLE:    It is not easy to die even for a good man – though of course for someone really worthy, a man might be prepared to die - but  what proves that God loves us is that Christ died for us while were still sinners. But to all who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to all who believe in the name of him who was born not out of human stock or urge of the flesh or will of man but of God himself. (John 1:13; Romans 5:6).
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   ”GOD IS CHANGING AND EVOLVING AS WE ARE FOR GOD LIVES IN US AND IN OUR HEARTS”. 
B. HOLY BIBLE:   I am Yahweh, unrivalled; there is no other God beside me… NO; I YAHWEH, DO NOT CHANGE… God is no man that he should lie, no son of Adam to draw back... Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make our home with him. A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “WHEN WE SPREAD LOVE AND KINDNESS IN THE WORLD, WE TOUCH OUR OWN DIVINITY AND RECOGNIZE IT”.
B. HOLY BIBLE:   This news is about the Son God who, according to the human nature he took, was a descendant of David: it is about Jesus Christ our Lord who in the order of the spirit, the spirit of holiness that was in him, was proclaimed Son of God in all his power through his resurrection from the dead. Through Him we received grace and our apostolic mission to preach the obedience of faith to all pagan nations in honour of his name. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men… (Romans 1:3-5; 2 Cor.5:11)
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “THE BIBLE IS A BEAUTIFUL HOLY BOOK, BUT LIKE ALL GREAT AND ANCIENT WORKS, SOME PASSAGES ARE OUTDATED”.
B. HOLY BIBLE:   This is my solemn warning to all who hear the prophecies in this Book; if anyone adds anything to them, God wil2l add to him every plague mentioned in the Book; if anyone cuts anything out of the prophecies in this Book, God will cut off his share of the tree of life and of the holy city, which are described in the Book. A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “SOME EVEN CALL FOR INTOLERANCE OR JUDGMENT. THE TIME HAS COME TO SEE THESE VERSES AS LATER INTERPOLATIONS, CONTRARY TO THE MESSAGE OF LOVE AND TRUTH, WHICH OTHERWISE RADIATES THROUGH SCRIPTURE”.
B. HOLY BIBLE:   Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.  But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.  (2 Cor. 4:1-4).
A. HUMANIST IDEA:   “IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR NEW UNDERSTANDING, WE WILL BEGIN TO ORDAIN WOMEN AS CARDINALS, BISHOPS AND PRIESTS. IN THE FUTURE, IT IS MY HOPE THAT WE WILL HAVE A WOMAN POPE ONE DAY. LET NO DOOR BE CLOSED TO WOMEN THAT IS OPEN TO MEN!”

B. HOLY BIBLE:   Yahweh says this: Put yourselves on the ways of long ago, enquire about the ancient paths:  which was the good way? Take it then, and you shall find rest.
