The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Sector Commander of the FRSC, Nseobong Akpabio, said the court sentenced the accused persons after they pleaded guilty. He said the court also directed Ndubusi to pay the sum of N60,000, Shita N52,000 and Yusuf N53,000 in addition to attending a one week public enlightenment lecture on driving in the FRSC office, Abuja.
He said a bout 82 motorists were arrested yesterday and charged before the court for violating traffic offences.
He added that the court found guilty all the suspects for violating section 109 of the traffic regulations including reckless driving. He said the suspects were made to pay fines before they regained their freedom.
He said this is part of the ongoing special patrol tagged "operation sanity" which is aimed at reducing indiscipline on the road. He said FRSC officials have been directed to arrest offenders no matter how highly placed they are and hand them over to the appropriate authority for prosecution.
