Ondo House Of Assembly Declares 7 Day Mourning For Late Speaker

Legislative and administrative activities at the Ondo State House of Assembly also known as the 'Sunshine House of Hope' would no be suspended for a while.
This is to mourn the late Speaker of the Assembly, Hon Samuel Adesina Ajayi who reportedly died on Tuesday.

The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Oyebo Aladetan made the disclosure in Akure while declaring a seven-day mourning period for the late speaker.

According to a release by the Ondo state government, Late Samuel Adesina Ajayi died after long battle with Cancer of the Urinary bladder. He was age 53.
Hon Aladetan disclosed that the House had raised a committee to work with the late Adesina's family in order organise his funeral services which will be communicated soon.

He described the death of the late speaker as painful and shocking not only to the members of his family but to colleagues at the assembly.
"The death of Hon. Adesina was shocking, painful and a great loss to the state and beyond" Aladetan said.

Meanwhile Nigeria Senate President, David Mark has commiserated with Ondo State government over the death of its House of Assembly speaker.
In his condolence message to Governor Olusegun Mimiko and members of the Assembly in Akure, Senator Mark described Adesina's death as "painful loss to the legislature and the nation at large".

Mark urged the people of Ondo State, especially the bereaved family, to take solace in the fact that the late Adesina lived a short but accomplished life.
Also a delegation of the state government, led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Aderotimi Adelola were also at the Assembly to commiserate with members of the legislature.

Adelola and see team described the late Adesina as a progressive legislator and a bridge builder between the legislative and the executive of the state.
The delegation later signed a condolence register placed at them Assembly complex before departing to Alagbaka home of the speaker to sympathize with his family.
Also Ekiti State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon Adewale Omirin and his Kwara State counterpart, Razak Atunwa commiserated with the people of Ondo State on Adesina's death.

They described their late colleague as "a great parliamentarian, who contributed significantly to the strengthening of parliamentary democracy in Nigeria.
They both urged the people of Ondo State to immortalise the late Adesina by imbibing his virtues of "kind heartedness, humane disposition, tenacity of purpose and zeal to make democracy more meaningful to the people".

While praying God to bear the family of the deceased the irreparable loss, the Speakers' urged the late Adesina's family and Ondo state people to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a life worthy of emulation.

It is a calculated gesture: one week of looting! Just watch out for part 11-the total sum of money used during the mourning period. The planning and actual burial are not included ooo. This is Nigeria.
