Islamist militant group Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the kidnaping of over 200 girls from a Nigerian school on April 14. Now, the terrorist group, whose name means ‘Western Education Is Sin,’ has released a new video threatening to sell the 200+ girls because it is what Allah told them to do.
On May 1, Boko Haram confessed to kidnapping over 200 schoolgirls in a brand new video which also claims they are going to sell the girls for choosing education over marriage.
“I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah,” the group’s leader Abubakar Shekau said in a new video CNN translated into English.
The group is considered a terrorist one by the United States, and Boko Harem stands for “Western Education Is Sin.” The group would rather see young girls become wives than get an education before settling down.
“Girls, you should go and get married,” he said as he spoke into the camera.
Worldwide Protests Against The Kidnapping
Ever since the April 14 kidnapping, people all over the world have been speaking out against it.
Protests have happened in Nigeria, Los Angeles, and London — all showing unity and strength as they try to find the 200 girls they kept captive.
“What we request is maximum cooperation from the guardians and the parents of these girls. Because up to this time, they have not been able to come clearly, to give the police clear identity of the girls that have yet to return,” Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan declared on Sunday, May 4.
Hopefully these girls will be returned safe and sound very soon.
