According to Hip Hop DX, Solange Knowles attacked Jay Z in the elevator was planning on attending Rihanna's MET Gala after-party without Beyonce. According to the site's report Jay Z and Solange clashed 15 minutes prior to the elevator incident. A few of Solange's friends reportedly told the hotel where the event was holding- The Standard- that they were Jay Z's guests. Jigga told Solange not to use his name to bring her friends to the party. Solange who a source said appeared to be 'drunk and irritated' wanted to leave the event.

When they got inside the elevator, Jay Z informed them he was going to Rihanna's after party alone. Solange who was already upset told Jay Z "Why can't you go home?" and to her sister "Why does your husband need to go to the club right now?" Jay Z cooly replied saying "You're one to talk." Solange was pissed by his response and attacked him as we all saw in the footage.

Jay Z and Beyonce haven't made any public comments concerning the incident. They however did appear at a basketball game involving the Miami Heats and Brooklyn Nets yesterday.
