Racism or Tribalism: Which one is worse?

Generally speaking every one knows the damage that Racism has done to the world. What about tribalism in Africa.  Especially in Nigeria, has tribalism done as much damage as Racism has done in other parts of the world.

I would pick TRIBALISM as being the worse.

People who do  not step out of Nigeria and visit other foriegn lands may never expwrience racism.

However, a Nigerian who has crossed the "border" into a different language speaking part of Nigeria will be treated differently and be grouped into either an Easterner, Westerner or Northener! The fact that you may be for instance be an Igbo fluent in Hausa does not make you one of them and you will be reminded of this everyday.

I know pepole turned down for a job, despite having the qualifiications because their STATE OF ORIGIN is the "WRONG"one! And marrying outside of your state of origin will not save you. Ask those who suffered during the last civil war in Nigeria.

I cannot understand why people of a different skin colour should hate me because I am BLACK - but hating me when  I ORIGINATE from the SAME country but belong to a DIFFERENT TRIBE is MUCH MORE PAINFUL!!!

We should get to know each other as FELLOW NIGERIANS and not be judged on our STATE OF ORIGIN!!!!!

Racism does not hinder developement,
Tribalism is a cancer that erodes even the smallest plan for advancement in any given place.

We Nigerians prefer to have a looting selfish brother in offices than an effective stranger.

Racism is for more enlightened people but tribalism is for people that live like almost animals. Racism could be curtailed but tribalism has no limit. You can hear of tribal war but racism is an individual thing and rarely can lead to war. If you are born in New York, then you are regarded as a yorker even if your parents are from Africa but if you are from Abia state and you are born in lagos, you are not a lagos indigene because of tribalism, your birth right is denied of you. This is what has kept our nation and most developing countries in big mess.
