In what is being consider a big blow to the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan on the international scene, a leading international firm has given the Thumbs Down to his "corruption" tainted nominee.

And who is the said corruption tainted nominee? Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke. In a shocking twist, she wasn't found worthy enough to head such a respected world body, she has thus failed to become the first female Secretary-General of OPEC as the members rejected her.
At its meeting on Wednesday, OPEC members refused to accept Alison-Madueke for the top position and they all agreed to extend the tenure of Abdullah al-Badri of Iraq, the current Secretary General, until June 2015 after the Presidential election in Nigeria...

OPEC members did not even look at her side. The news of her rejection comes barely 24 hours after President Jonathan nominated her as a candidate for the highly coveted post.

OPEC’s decision to extend Abdullah al-Badri’s tenure for another year was unexpected, and it is considered a big slap on the face of a Nigeria, the only country in OPEC that doesn't have refinery to serve its people.

According to Sahara Reporters, insiders say the Jonathan had groomed his choice for the highly coveted post during the years of his tenure as president despite a swirl of murky issues that has followed her career.

Alison-Madueke is one of the most controversial ministers in the Jonathan administration, having been rocked by numerous allegations of financial improprieties. She is expected to answer questions at the House of Reps for the over N10billion she spent flying private jets with Nigeria's money.

It is not clear what happens next for Alison-Madueke as the rejection of her bid for the high post inside OPEC is certainly going to reflect on her and her Oga beyond Nigeria in the years to come.
