It appears that Genevieve Nnaji’s comments a few days ago which addressed her absence from the Nollywood screens have angered a Nollywood movie director. In the interview which you can read here, Gene said I guess I haven’t found the right script yet. Creativity and depth are the qualities that I look out for in a script. In the beginning, the movie industry emphasized quantity but things are changing and there is an improvement in trend. I am among the people who advocate for the improvement of the industry. So said, I am constantly watching out for the kind of stories I take part in. I am in support of movies that show a great deal of professionalism and creativity. Having practiced my art in international and professionally produced stories like ‘Ije’; ‘Mirror boy;’ and ‘Tango with me’, I don’t think I can return to the blandness and mediocrity that characterized Nollywood in the past. Her comments got Mac Collins Chidebe feeling some type of way, so he allegedly sent out the following statement maccollinschidebeGenevieve has just insulted the industry that made her who she is today and what effort has she made to help improve Nollywood? Those days in Enugu when Genevieve was growing in Nollywood, our movies were not rubbish; she has grown now, made money, fame, popularity etc. How much has she invested in this Industry that made her? All the while she was busy waiting for Titanic scripts, Nollywood was trying their best to keep the flag flying waiting for her to come back and take the industry to the next level. Artistes should stop biting the fingers that fed them. We are watching and waiting for them to bring down heaven. We made them stars; we are waiting for them to come back and take the industry to the next level. Instead of blasting Nollywood, come and improve Nollywood. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT HIS COMMENTS?

This is a true talk..u just advice her and I'm in particular very proud of man. Gene is feeling too big..she need to humble her self and not bit d finger that fed her..we nigerian,nollywood made her what she is..

Good response, I like that. Only in Africa every dick and Harry wanna be boss's. Any actors or actresses wanna be producer and directors, I been watching foreign movies for years never seen actors or actresses turned producer. Harrison Ford is about 80yrs old still acting, still taking instructions from movie's directors yet he is a billionaire. If only we can learn to be patience and be humble in whatever we do then Africa can be better. Now that Nollywood has made you, you think you are bigger and better than Nollywood, check your self.

The Director is 100% Right , Gene is feeling too big , those days that she was busy acting those movies that do not have great deal of professionalism and creativity that made her popular today, she did not complain , lets watch and see, it is a matter of time.

Or is he another BRING DOWN OUR GIRLS producer....another hater like Ema ? You expect her to be reasoning like 10yrs ago ? There's nothing wrong with what she said. Gene has evolved so you should try and have something to sell.....for a single and successful young lady, grass to grace, she's carrying herself well. Don't we all think the house we grew up in is not our taste and work harder for a better one? Keep waiting for her to donate money to Nollywood from her income ooo.
